Current Obsession: Records

Last year Owen and I bought a second hand record player and raided my parent's house for their old records. Lately we've decided to start our own collection (eventually I may even give most of my parent's records back to them!).

My favourite time to listen to records is while I'm cooking and the ones that get the most rotation at the moment are:

• Elephant by the White Stripes
• Teaser and the Firecat by Cat Stevens
• The Simon and Garfunkle Collection
• Harvest by Neil Young

It's a different experience listening to records instead of playing everything through the computer, not being able to skip songs and needing to turn the record over every now and then is a bit of a change! There are definitely some types of music that sound great on vinyl, but I think others wouldn't work so well. I'm happy to experiment and see which ones do!

Finished Photo Album

I mentioned the other day that I finally finished my photo album, which covers nearly ten years worth of photos that had been sitting in a box waiting to be sorted for ages. I was inspired by this idea by Elise Joy to include some captions and stories along with the pictures, which makes the album so much more interesting to look through.

I've already bought two more albums, one for the next few years and one for some travel or wedding photos (I haven't decided yet!). I wonder how long it will take me to get these ones finished?

Long Weekend

I've loved having a couple of extra days holiday, long weekends are the best! Some of the highlights:

Feathers in My Cap

• Taking turns with Owen to make fancy breakfast every morning
• Going on long walks with the dog in the forest near our house
• Extra warm weather for the first three days, it felt like summer again on Sunday!
• Getting my haircut for the first time in years 
• Family dropping in to our house for coffee
• Finishing up my photo album (which I've been meaning to do for months and months)

Black Eyes

• Deciding to go shopping on a rainy public holiday when half of the shops in town were closed (but luckily changing my mind before it was too late!)
• Having to go back to work tomorrow when Owen has an extra day off
